Out of Town Bars

Although the city centre of Newcastle has undergone a rather dramatic change over the last few decades to become a veritable thriving hub of art, entertainment, pubs and restaurants, there are times when the last thing you want to do is wait in line or fend off the crowds to get your hands on a drink. Fortunately, many of the most loved and relaxing Newcastle Bars are located out of town.

Aside the obvious enticement of leaving behind the din of traffic and throngs of people, the region also happens to own some of Britain's most beautiful countryside. Sharing a border with Northumberland, Tyne and Wear has all the natural charms of North East England, not to forget the wonderful river which seems to increase in splendour the further you get from the city.

It is along the river that you'll find some appealing places to sit and enjoy a relaxing drink in good company. From charming old pubs which complement the splendid countryside, to hidden away places which offer live entertainment and family orientated hospitality, there is some special place to make you forget that the city is only a few miles away.

Despite the ever present contrasts between the urban chic of the city centre Newcastle Bars and the more intimate, traditional confines of many pubs in small villages, there is style to be had out of town. The North East’s less built up areas lend themselves to a different kind of sophistication, albeit of a more gentle and unassuming variety.

It is in the out of town Newcastle Bars that you can expect to find that expertly made Real Ale and perhaps a locally made pork pie to remind you what the city will always lack. Whether you're looking for an alternative to the thump and bump of a Friday night or simply wanting to enjoy a leisurely Sunday with the paper and a pint, out of town is the way to go.
